Dr Rachel Jakeman is an experienced NHS and private GP with specialist interests in ADHD, neurodiversity, menopause, hormonal health, metabolic health, weight management, mental wellbeing, and gender-affirming healthcare. She is passionate about providing compassionate, inclusive, person-centred care that looks beyond symptoms to understand the wider context of a person’s life and health.
Alongside her NHS roles, Dr Jakeman runs her own CQC-registered private practice, which initially focused on menopause care, hormonal health, and weight management, but has naturally evolved into supporting patients with more complex and overlapping physical and mental health presentations. Through her own clinic she works with adults and older teenagers experiencing ADHD, burnout, anxiety, hormonal change, emotional dysregulation, metabolic health issues, and midlife wellbeing challenges.
She has a particular interest in the overlap between neurodiversity and other physical and mental health conditions, including menopause, PMDD, PMOS, endometriosis, histamine intolerance, trauma, chronic stress, obesity, emotional eating, sleep disturbance, insulin resistance, fatty liver disease, and type 2 diabetes.
Dr Jakeman also works within gender-affirming healthcare services and has a strong interest in the overlap between neurodiversity, identity, hormones, and mental wellbeing. She is committed to providing respectful, inclusive care for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent patients.
As part of her work with ADHD Specialists, Dr Jakeman supports the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD in adults and older teenagers. Her wider medical, hormonal, metabolic, and lifestyle medicine work is provided separately through her own private clinic.
She has a strong interest in transformational coaching, education, training, and behavioural change. Her approach is informed by lifestyle medicine and CAT-informed principles, recognising the importance of relationships, identity, emotional patterns, self-worth, and nervous system regulation in long-term health and wellbeing.
Dr Jakeman often describes her role as being like the conductor of an orchestra — helping patients make sense of multiple overlapping aspects of their health so that care feels joined-up, compassionate, and sustainable.
Her style is warm, collaborative, practical, and non-judgemental.
Outside medicine, Rachel is a mum, trained mat Pilates instructor, enjoys Reformer Pilates and strength training, and has developed a growing interest in golf over the past three years.
