I am a compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse and Independent Prescriber with over 30 years of experience, including more than 20 years in forensic mental health working with individuals with complex presentations, including dual diagnoses and personality disorders.
My career began with studies in behavioural psychology at UCLA in California, before I trained as a nurse. I now work across both the NHS and private practice, specialising in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD, autism, and a wide range of mental health conditions.
Over the years, I have seen how often mental health difficulties are assessed and treated in isolation, without the joined-up thinking needed to fully understand what lies beneath presenting symptoms. Many individuals are treated for anxiety or depression while underlying neurodevelopmental differences, such as ADHD, remain unrecognised. This was also reflected in my own experience, where years of treatment did not fully address the root cause until I received my own ADHD diagnosis and proper care.
This personal and professional insight has led me to develop a particular interest in how ADHD can go unnoticed, especially in women. I am passionate about improving understanding of the overlap between ADHD, emotional regulation, hormonal changes, and wider wellbeing, and about supporting people to make sense of complex and often misunderstood experiences.
As a mother of five, raising both neurodivergent and neurotypical children, I bring a deep appreciation of the realities and challenges families may face. This perspective strengthens my commitment to helping individuals and families feel understood, supported, and hopeful.
My approach is holistic, compassionate, and person-centred. I look beyond individual symptoms to understand the wider picture of physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing, working collaboratively to develop practical, realistic, and sustainable treatment plans that support long-term change.
